2012 WORLD GOLD PANNING CHAMPIONSHIPS
1st to 7th October, 2012 Pilgrims Rest, Mpumalanga Province

The South African Gold Panning Association (SAGPA) is delighted to welcome you to the Mecca of gold panning in Africa, Pilgrim's Rest.
As custodians of gold panning on the continent, SAGPA has been counting down the days to the start of the 2012 World Championships with a lot of excitement. We have been working hard since we were confirmed as hosts of the championships to ensure that panners from the world over have a memorable experience in our beautiful province, Mpumalanga, come October 2012.
Our aim is simple and it is to organize the best championships yet so that we create great gold panning memories that will linger on the minds of panners and spectators alike who will descend on Pilgrim's Rest in a year's time.
SAGPA is grateful to the World Gold Panning Association (WGPA) for the opportunity to host the prestigious championships for a second time in six years. This is a vote of confidence in our ability to deliver high caliber events. We are confident that the 2012 championships participation numbers will be even higher than that of the 2005 edition. We assure the WGPA that their decision was correct and we will pull all the stops to make the 2012 championships one to savour for the gold panning fraternity.
To WGPA, thank you for choosing South Africa as hosts. Pilgrim's Rest is ready to host the world in 2012. Our panning facilities are in a mint condition, our panners are in fine form and the only thing missing are the participating countries to descend on Pilgrim's Rest for the games to begin. Outside of gold panning, we have come up with programmes that will make the championships memorable on and off the panning dams.
